How do the Disney World 3D glasses work?

I brought a pair home from my last visit, and they’ve just been sitting there collecting dust. When today I was watching some ride through videos on youtube. And for Philharmagic… THEY WORKED! But anyway, when you just put them on both lenses look normal. But when you look at the screen, the left one turns dark! AND THEN.. I flipped them around (backwards) and the before right, now left turned dark!! How does this work? That when I look at something normal, like out my window, both lenses are clear but when I turn to my computer screen the left (no matter how they are orientated) turns dark… Please let me know! Thanks

p.s. ~ no smart ass remarks please!
Indiana Jones ~ Thanks for the link, I’ve always wanted to know how they work. But I was referring to why the lenses themselves turn dark.

can you watch 3D at home?

Can you watch 3D movies on your television/computer if you have the 3D glasses?

vista 64 bit compatible? do most games or computers support the use of some kind of 3D visor?
there is such a thing my friend and i were just looking at them at this web site called www.3DVisor.com they are modern gaming goggles but we just arent sure how compatible they are with games like crysis or dx10 or 64 bit.
if you look at the website it says that they are for gaming applications but we really arent sure what they are compatible with. also what about NON 3D glasses just like a 2D set of glasses or something that just kind of projects an image and makes it seem as though you are looking at a larger screen than you really are.

how can i play 3d videos on my computer ?

i have an ATI 6870 gfx card, and ive downloaded the stereoscopic player … what else do i need ? … glasses ? :p

New glasses make anything red 3D? WTF?

Anything red on a 2d surface pops out, No other colours pop out, just the red. And its like a 3d efftct. I looked at a painting in my place, a dancer with a red dress, and the dress ‘pops’ right out. And anything red on the computer screen (orange and yellow included) is 3d

These are typical short sighted glasses. -4.00R and -3.75L

I mean wtffffff, and i was driving just before and i was wayy to far over the the right side of the road. (Australia, we drive on the left side) like the perpective was off.

OTHER than that, the perscription is perfect. What is causing this 3d thing????
…you miss the point completely, it is a problem in daily life

The principle is that an HDMI cable transmits a 1080p feed at 60 frames per second. A 3D tv uses 2 HDMI cables so that it can alternate between each cable’s feed every 120th of a second so that each feed can still display 60 frames per second without stacking directly on top of the other’s feed. This means that 3D glasses shutter between the left eye and right eye every 120th of a second. The main concept is that the glasses shutter in sync with the alternations between the HDMI feeds.

The main difference between 3D and 2D tvs are that 3D tvs can operate at 120 frames per second, which outperforms the frame rate of HDMI cables. This is why two cables are needed, to compensate for the frame rate loss so that each eye can experience its own independent feed without sacrificing it’s frame rate. Technically, if the cables could transmit 1080p at 120 frames per second, it would be as simple as alternating between eyes every other frame.

NOW, if you could turn each eye’s feed down to 30 frames per second, it would be as simple as alternating between eyes every 60th of a second and making sure the shutter glasses are also slowed down to shutter between eyes every 60th of a second instead of every 120th of a second.

Going on theory, there is no doubt the full color 1080p would achieve a 3D effect and need only one HDMI cable since it only require transmission of 60 frames per second, with the only down side being that youve cut the frame rate in half per eye.

The 2D tv should be fully compatible doing this since it can already achieve 60 frames per second and will only need one video input. The trick is to slow down the shutter glasses in half, delete every other frame from the original 120 frame per second source, then transmit that rerendered 60 frame per second video feed through one HDMI cable.

There, I have discovered how to do full color 3D on non"3D tvs".

—–What I’m asking is where I can get the appropriate software for computer’s 3D capable video card to create the 60 frame per second converted feed, and how to get a hold of or make a pair of shutter glasses to alternate every 60th of a second instead the standard 120th of a second.

A cartoony fun description of how the Brain perceives 3D with 3D glasses and without them like with the nintendo 3DS.
