I downloaded a racing game on my computer called Trackmania Nations Forever and it allows you to have 3d effects. How can i make the glasses for them? Does it have to be polarized because it is on the computer?

Are there any games, of any kind, that makes use of the same kind of technology or graphics as movies in 3D? Or have anyone at least been developing one but gave up? What I am talking about is, of course, not 3D animation but the kind of 3D that requires special glasses.
If not, then why? Is it something in the programing part that makes it difficult, or is it simply so that nobody has thought about it?
